Wiring method for power supply to distribution box

The main power supply should be connected to the distribution box via appropriately rated cables, through a main MCB, with proper neutral and earth connections, following safety standards.

Step 1: Safety and Preparation

2. Main MCB to RCCB: If an RCCB is used for additional protection, connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB. This ensures all downstream circuits are protected against leakage currents .
3. Load MCBs: Connect the output of the RCCB to the input of individual single-pole or double-pole MCBs for each sub-circuit. Single-pole MCBs carry only the phase wire, while double-pole MCBs carry both phase and neutral for special loads .

Step 4: Neutral and Earth Connections

• Connect the neutral wire from the RCCB output to the neutral bus bar in the distribution box.
• Connect the earth wire from the supply or earth pit to the earth bus bar. All metallic parts of the distribution box and appliances must be properly grounded to prevent electric shock .

• Connect each load's phase wire to the output terminal of its respective MCB.
• Connect the neutral and earth wires of each load to the neutral and earth bus bars, respectively .
• Ensure all wires are clearly labeled, properly insulated, and no copper is exposed. Cable inlets and cover joints should be sealed to prevent dust or moisture ingress .

• Verify all connections are tight and correctly routed.
• Ensure the MCB and RCCB ratings match the load requirements.
• Turn on the main supply and test each circuit for proper operation and safety.
